Dietrich Schindler Lecture: "The Visuality of International Law" by Judge Hilary Charlesworth, International Court of Justice

On Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 6:30pm, Judge Hilary Charlesworth will hold the next Dietrich Schindler Lecture on the topic "The Visuality of International Law". In her lecture, Judge Charlesworth will contend that the law’s power is not just a textual matter and that it has a large visual component. The authority of law has always depended on skilful deployment of imagery. She will consider ways in which visuality shapes international law, focussing on the International Court of Justice.
